Yue YangPostdoctoral Associate
Dr. Yue Yang is a designer, maker, and researcher working at the intersection of digital fabrication, adaptive materials and structures, and smart healthcare. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the MIT Media Lab, Tangible Media Group. Yue is enthusiastic about democratizing custom fabrication and creating adaptive tangible objects to enhance the quality of life for diverse populations.Yue’s work has received prestigious design awards, including the Red Dot, iF, Dezeen, and James Dyson Awards. It has also been featured in multiple international design exhibitions, such as Dubai Design Week and the China Design Exhibition. Additionally, her research has been published in top-tier journals and conferences in human-computer interaction, including CHI, UIST, and IMWUT (UbiComp).Yue earned her Bachelor of Engineering and PhD in Design from Zhejiang University. She was also a visiting researcher during her PhD in the Morphing Matter Lab at the University of California, Berkeley, working with Prof. Lining Yao. She is a recipient of the 2025 ACM SIGCHI China Doctoral Dissertation Award. She is also serving as a Program Committee (PC) member for the TEI 2025 Conference WIP track and as a reviewer for academic conferences and journals, including CHI, UIST, and TEI.
