Min Fan
Dr. Min Fan is a Professor at the School of Animation and Digital Arts at the Communication University of China (CUC), a Visiting Professor at the MIT Media Lab's Tangible Media Group, and a Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia's Collaborative Digital Heritage Studio (CoDHerS). She has been recognized as a National High-Level Youth Talent. She also serves as a committee member of the CCF Human-Computer Interaction Technical Committee.
Dr. Fan’s research focuses on interaction design and digital media to support adolescent well-being. She specializes in designing playful learning experiences that leverage tangible, embodied, and AI-driven interactions. Her research has been supported by major grants, including the National Social Science Fund of China (Arts) and special projects from the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission.
She has published over 40 papers in top-tier HCI journals and conferences and received an ACM CHI Best Paper Honorable Mention. Her interactive artworks have been exhibited at premier international venues such as SIGGRAPH and CHI. Dr. Fan serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Child-Computer Interaction (IJCCI) and a Guest Editor for Heritage. Her academic leadership includes serving as Papers Chair for the ACM Interaction Design and Children (IDC) conference (2025-2026) and as an Associate Chair for the ACM CHI for seven consecutive years (2020-2026). Her design, the "EmoLand: An Online Digital Platform for Social Intervention for Autistic Children," won the 2023 Tencent Light Technology Public Welfare Innovation Award and has been featured by over 40 media outlets, including MIT Technology Review and CCTV.
