Jie Li
Dr. Jie Li is a human-computer interaction (HCI) researcher who currently serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at the Human-AI Symbiosis Alliance (HAISA), where she leads scientific community engagement and human-centered AI research. Previously, she was the Head of Research (Netherlands) at EPAM.
She obtained her master’s and PhD degrees in Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology and completed her postdoc at the Dutch National Research Center for Computer Science and Mathematics (CWI). Her research focuses on designing experiences and developing evaluation methods for emerging technologies such as Extended Reality and Human-AI Interaction.
Despite her full-time research career, Jie remains active in the HCI community as a guest professor and has supervised PhD students on XR harassment impacts and human-robot interactions at universities including the Graduate School of Media Design at Keio University and the Computer Science Department at George Mason University. She is a core member of the organizing committees for major conferences in the HCI field, such as CHI and MobileHCI. She also writes a column for ACM Interactions, titled “Bits to Bites,” where she reflects on HCI research methodologies and Human-technology experiences in both academic and industry contexts.
Beyond her research, Jie is a creative cake artist with 18 years of experience and owns a boutique café in Delft called Cake Researcher
