brave@stanford.edu Scott Brave received his B.S. degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Stanford University in 1995. At Stanford, Scott worked with Professor John Koza and Professor Nils Nilsson exploring genetic programming, an artificial intelligence technique inspired by Darwinian evolution in nature. While in California, Scott also worked extensively with Immersion Corporation to develop new applications for force-feedback technology, including networked haptic games and systems to allow people with neuromotor disabilities to interface with computers. In 1998, Scott received his M.S. degree in Media Arts and Sciences from the MIT Media Lab. As a member of Professor Hiroshi Ishii's Tangible Media Group, he focused on the application of force-feedback to human-computer interaction and interpersonal communication. Scott is now back at Stanford University, pursuing a Ph.D. in Communication under the direction of Professor Cliff Nass. As a member of the SRCT (Social Responses to Communication Technology) group, Scott is continuing his research on computer-mediated touch. |
