mgorbet@media.mit.edu Matt Gorbet's focus with the Tangible Media Group was on dual-identity objects -- physical objects capable of embodying and manipulating data. He graduated from the Media Lab and left TMG in 1998. He is now artist and member of the research staff at the Xerox PARC, the Palo Alto research lab of The Document Company. He works with a group called Research in Experimental Documents (RED), exploring the development of new genres of expression, based on emerging technologies. Most recently, he's been a principal in an 18-month project to create a major exhibition at the San Jose Tech Museum of Innovation entitled XFR: Experiments in the Future of Reading. The show runs for March to September, 2000. Aside from pure research, Matt's major interest include Tangible Media Art, especially physically interactive installation artwork. |
